BARRIO CERVECERIA

Not too long ago, a childhood friend of mine and I met for food in Leslieville. We had no place in mind or particular cravings but when we walked by Barrio and saw their sweet patio, there was no more surveying the area.

The cushions, exposed brick and suspended patio lighting which added to the cozy, neighborhood-like ambiance that a lot of bars and restaurants on Queen East take pride in. I loved how they still managed to incorporate fun splashes of colour which set the scene for what felt like a Mexican escape.

With the mood set, it was all about the food. The Mexican inspired dishes were super tasty and reasonably priced. We started off with their Guacamole Del Barrio to share. The Guac was super fresh ( you can always tell when it is not) and full of flavor.

For my lunch, I ordered the Campechano del D.F taco which is made with grilled steak, house made chorizo, oaxaca cheese garnished with diced onions & cilantro. I also ordered the Arrachera which is a corn tortilla piled with marinated grilled steak with oaxaca cheese, salsa verde, garnished with diced onions and cilantro.

I'm a sucker for good food presentation. Love a good garnish.. do people really say that?Anyhoo, The staff at Barrio paid so much attention to the little things-- from the plating to the delivery of our meal, everything was perfect.

If you're looking for a good time on Queen East, I would say check out this spot at night for the full experience.
