BEAUTY BREAKDOWN: Recreating Charlotte Tilbury's Golden Goddess Look
I'm not going to say I am getting old because I can feel my mother's eyes rolling in the back of her head as I type this... but as of late, I've been noticing quite a few changes when it comes to my skin's texture. A few years ago, I would fit into the combination skin category, but now, I am all the way DRY. Like light-a-match-with-my-cheek dry. Sandpaper Dry. It's bad.
When it comes to makeup, I go from light to heavy REAL QUICK depending on what my schedule is looking like for the week so I reach for products that require the least amount of effort. I also go for products that are buildable and can take me from day to night. Now that my skin is demanding a little bit more attention, I've been trying out a variety of brands in hopes of finding the right fit.
My latest go-to line of products : Charlotte Tilbury.
What I appreciate the most about this line is how healthy my skin looks and feels. It adds the right amount of glow without making me look too shiny and artificial. Makeup that is super lightweight, but can last as long as I need it to.
Last week, I paid a visit to the Charlotte Tilbury stand in Holt Renfrew located at Bay & Bloor to get my makeup done and of course I didn't leave empty handed. I strongly suggest popping by. Anytime I've gone in to test, try and annoy, the staff has been extremely helpful. They know what they're talking about, they will not bs you and most importantly, they make you feel comfortable. As a consumer, I ask A LOT of questions. So to have people who genuinely take the time to make sure you are thoroughly informed about a company's philosophy speaks volumes about the product itself.
Pictured above are just some of the amazing and talented artists that you will meet if you go. I've added their contact information below so if you are looking for inspiration, tips or have any questions , hit them up!
As you will notice when you walk in, the staff is very diverse. A huge "YAS" for women like me who find themselves holding off of trying out a lot of products because you know it just doesn't work out for your skin tone.

The lovely and talented Chelsea Allamby did my makeup and I couldn't be happier with how it came out.
Below is a product breakdown of the look created:
ALL ABOUT THAT BASE. I had to. I'm sorry.
First, we started off with Charlotte's Magic Cream and Magic Eye Rescue. I had to buy the Magic Cream the moment I tried it. You know when you just know? Now I'm not going to lie, it's pretty pricey BUT in the small amount of time that I've been using it, I've noticed how hydrated my skin has been feeling throughout the day without having to constantly reapply. Before the Magic Cream, I would at least have to re-up on the moisturizer at least six times a day. With this, I only use it morning and night and I'm good. All you need is the tiniest amount before makeup application.
Chelsea then followed up with the Wonder Glow primer to add extra radiance to the skin. This looks amazing on its own if you don't want to wear any makeup at all but still feel that you need a little something-something to brighten the skin.
When it came to selecting a foundation, I wanted something lightweight so we decided to go with the Light Wonder foundation ( I am in the shade 8). I used this one a lot in the summer and absolutely loved it!
To conceal and highlight we used The Retoucher in 8 medium deep. I reach for this product the most. If I'm running errands and want to look somewhat put together I just dab on anything I want to hide, use my ring finger to blend and go. To add dimension and definition, Chelsea used the Film Star Bronze & Glow in light to medium.
Keeping it very simple with the eyes, we only used the four shadows in the Golden Goddess Luxury Palette. EASY to apply, super pigmented, blends like a dream. Chelsea then smudged the Rock 'N' Kohl Barbarella Brown eye pencil on my upper and lower lash line. Finished with a coat of the Full Fat Lashes mascara in Glossy Black and that was it. It literally took less than five minutes to do.
Once the eyes were done, Chelsea prepped the lips with the Lip Magic primer. I'm all for a brown lip liner under any kind lipstick so we went for the Foxy Brown lipliner as a base which looks amazing on its own. She then applied Stoned Rose on top and paired it with the Sweet Stilleto Lip Gloss.
